New Business Models for the music industry

  1. I read this article and thought, “hmm, about time.” But I am not sure the consumers that prate vs the ones that purchase music legally will allow for prices to be disguised in other products for sale. The guys that pirate are tech savvy and seek the lowest prices or only the coolest new toy. It will be interesting to see how it plays out.

After the success crash landing by the airline pilot into the Hudson River, I thought about a new pricing model for airlines. What if consumers bid on flights based upon the resume of the pilot. They have had such a hard time making money and keeping good pilots especially with the influx of corporate and private jets (which has subsided considerably), but charging customer and paying the pilots based on experience of the pilot seemed like and interesting idea. Not practical, but interesting.

  2. Airlines do need a new business model. UAL reported a billion dollar loss in Q4. See the post under Case Work.
